Gemma Parreño Marquet

Trained in Artistic Ceramics and Pottery at the Escola d’Arts i Disseny de Vic, and having exhibited at the Museu de l’Art de la Pell de Vic and La Farga La Cambra in Manlleu, her practice has developed mainly within the field of functional ceramics, working on the potter’s wheel and with moulds designed and produced by herself. In recent years, she has begun a transition towards ceramic sculpture, exploring larger formats, new construction techniques such as slab building, and a deeper investigation into texture, volume and the expressive language of clay.

Tomás Feres Jara

Tomás Feres’s practice is an organic journey of exploration through wood, where the functionality of craftsmanship and artistic abstraction naturally intersect. Primarily self-taught, his relationship with the material began at its roots: mastering technique and acoustics through lutherie and the creation of musical instruments, before transferring this knowledge to furniture design, lighting and experimental architecture. Among his projects are an imposing mobile mechanical spider-like structure and a large-scale dome cabin.

Over the years, what began as a technical mastery of traditional woodworking has evolved into a deeply personal artistic exploration. In his most recent work, he moves beyond utilitarian purpose to enter the realm of contemporary sculpture.

TITLE OF THE PIECE:

Rooted in the Air

CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION:

I am an octahedron. I represent an element that you cannot see directly, but that has now, here, been given form. I feel that I am important to your lives, even though most of the time I go unnoticed.

I am invisible, and I communicate with you through sensations. I move everywhere, pass through every space and connect with every body.

The roots that surround me connect with one another, like a network that runs through space. The wood supports them and gives them structure, while I move among them, unseen.

This is how I like to relate to all the creations in this world: connecting them without almost anyone noticing.

YEAR OF CREATION:

2026

Ceramic slabs with relief, texture, oxide and glazes.
