IVET BAZACO

Ivet Bazaco
Barcelona, 1977

Ceramics have always been the guiding thread throughout Ivet Bazaco’s career. Since childhood, she has understood clay as a way of thinking and relating to the world, a material that has allowed her to give form to ideas, emotions and questions.

Over the years, she has combined her artistic practice with teaching ceramics, two activities that have mutually enriched one another and have helped define her way of working. Her work has moved across diverse fields, including object design, jewellery, sculpture and public-space projects. This experience has broadened her perspective without ever distancing her from ceramics as a language.

Her current research revolves around the relationship between matter and gesture. She is interested in ceramics’ ability to retain the trace of what is fleeting and transform it into a physical presence. Her pieces emerge from this dialogue between process, memory and time, seeking to create spaces open to contemplation and interpretation.
